What Happens on my First Visit?
We want each patient to feel very comfortable when arriving at the clinic. You will be offered a hot drink, water and even a slice of cake if you wish before you start your appointment
Your Chiropractor or Osteopath will take a full case & medical history, listening to you and asking relevant questions to investigate why you are in pain. Following this, your practitioner will start the examination, including, nerve, joint, muscle & specific Chiropractic or Osteopathic tests. Gowns are made available for you to wear for the examination, as well as for any following treatments.
If your practitioner believes that an X-Ray will help with diagnosis, this will be discussed as how best to proceed.
Your practictitioner will then discuss the examination findings with you, explaining why you are in pain and how we can help. We will outline how many treatments are required, over how long and how much it will cost. Bring your partner along if you would like - we can explain how best to look after them at home. Your Practitioner wants you to fully understand what has been discussed - so ask lots of questions! We may start treatment on the first visit.

What Does Treatment Involve?
Chiropractic and Osteopathic treatment does not use medication or surgery. It is a manual therapy working with your own body's healing ability.
The type of treatment your Practitioner can give varies greatly depending on the type of problem, level of pain, age of patient and the length of time the problem has been there. Your Chiropractor or Osteopath may adjust a joint using quick and gentle pressure to help relieve the pinch on the nerves and improve movement. You may hear a ‘popping’ sound - this is normal. Air can be released in the joint and is nothing to be concerned about.
Depending on the location of your symptoms, with your consent, you may be asked to remove some clothing from the painful area. Gowns are provided however you may wish to bring shorts and a vest. You will not be required to remove underwear.
Your Chiropractor or Osteopath may also use soft tissue work such as stretching and massage to help relax to muscles and help in the healing process.
Both Chiropractic and Osteopathic treatments are holistic therapies - you will offered health, nutrition and other lifestyle advice to help you get the best out of your treatment and improve your general health.
Can You Tell Me My Diagnosis Straight Away?
Once your Practitioner has completed their examination, you will receive a full report and explanation of the results and why you may be feeling discomfort.
Your practitioner may need to use other tests to help with the diagnosis, such as X-rays or MRI. This can be arranged and will be discussed with you. Once results have returned, these will be explained too.
How Many Treatments Will I Need?
This will depend on several factors and will be outlined in your report. Such as the type, severity and chronicity of your condition. A treatment plan will be outlined and this should be followed to give you the best chance of a successful response to treatment.
Your Practitioner will be monitoring your response to treatment on each visit and will carry out periodic reviews of your improvement. To discuss any changes to care and exercises you can do
